Some common mistakes that people make when moving are easily avoidable.

The first mistake is failing to schedule your move in advance.  Most people move when the weather is nice, i.e., the summer months.  Moving trucks, storage facilities and moving companies book up quickly during these months.  Instead of waiting until the last minute to schedule these important components in a move, make sure you schedule weeks, or if possible month in advance.  You can always "tweak" the dates the closer you get to your move.  You don't want to be scrambling the day of the move to find a rental truck only to find out that none are available, or waiting until 8:00 pm. to go to the storage facility to sign-up for the storage unit, only to find out they closed at 5:00 p.m.  Moving is stressful enough without adding more.  At Clinton Mini Storage we do our best to help reduce your stress levels where we can.

Looking for a place to store your things, but before you start looking for storage, ask yourself the following questions:
Do I need all this stuff?
If I got rid of some of this stuff, would I really miss them?
When was the last time I used it?
Does it have any sentimental or monetary value? Will this value increase with time?

One of the most important things to remember when moving is getting the right size moving truck. If you get a truck that is too small, you'll be making more than one trip, and increasing the cost of the move, for a local move. And if you are moving cross-country, you might have to unload the items you have already put on the truck, hope you can find a larger truck, and then reload it.
